It's interesting that they even bothered to port the code. Couldn't you just pony up the scratch for a license of VMware Fusion and run it damn near native?
It's milking the cash cow, when income from one game diminishes on it's platforms, more can be made by a small investment into another.
Possibly, although it doesn't seem like they would make enough money in new sales on OS X to justify porting it.
I am thinking it is more a PR move. It is a good way to promote Steam and Valve to OS X gamers by porting their classic game to the platform.

that's good, who doesn't already own the original H-L? 😀So you actually have to pay for it if you already bought HL?
EDIT: Just installed Steam on my Mini, and it looks like you dont have to pay for it if you already own HL.
I am not finding a mac version on steam, am I missing something?
So I purchase the PC version then the osx beta shows up?It doesnt show in the Store, just in the Library as Beta.

Of course I have HL. I bought it in '98. im an old fart. We didnt have streaming D/Ls back then! 🙂You dont have Half-Life?????
I assume its just a Mac version that shows up when the game is cross platform. That screenshot I posted are of the games I bought on Windows that now have Mac versions. If I were to post my Steam library on Windows, I would need 10 images to capture all the uninstalled games.
Oh, so in other words, I believe yes is the answer to your question.

Thanks.
maybe, but I just bought it again. Its quicker to pay the 10 bux and play on my mac laptop. I havent seen my cds for HL in years. Can't you plug the cd key into steam to load it up? Or if you bought the orange box I think it included Half Life 1.

And thats how they get ya!
True dat. I purchase and repurchase games all the time. If I deem it worthy the devs can get my cash again. Valve in particular because they still take the time and care about a 15 yr old game and put in on ios. Not many companys do that any more.Whatever, as soon as the C&C ultra pack (or whatever it's called) goes on sale on origin again, i'm buying it. That'll be the 3rd or 4th time that I will have bought Red Alert 2, and the 2nd/3rd for a bunch of the others.
