Original Civilization on Win 98 -- why so slow ???

I want to play the original Civilization on my Windows 98 machine. (I'm too cheap to go buy Civ2, etc.). Anyway, it runs very slowly. Is there anything I can do to speed it up?

You know what, never mind. I think I'm gonna just download CivNet from TheUnderdogs.com.

What are your specs....

I know civ 3 runs kinds slow on my laptop once you get alot of area cleared....

Dunno about civ2 been awhile
