Origin of scary movie characters?

I want to know how these scary movie characters came to be?

Like Jason, he was a kid chained int eh lake?

Tell me!

If I remember correctly his mom was working at camp Crystal Lake and jason was "Different" some of the kids were teasing him and pushed him into the lake where he drowned. Him being chained at the bottom was from one of the many horrible sequals.

Freddy was a janitor that was killing kids before some kids burned him to death.

here's an abridged timeline for the jason movies i did for a review of jason x sometime last year (or whenever it came back)

which characters did you have in mind?

Actually, Jason drowned while the camp counselors were out having sex and smoking pot. That's why his Mom took revenge.

i don't think they ever portray him as a mutant. more likely some sort of evil elemental, like a demonoid. what else can be revived by a lightning bolt or by a psychic suggestion. at one point he was just a regular guy i think. but really, really evil.

i can explain hellraiser! (they tell you in hellraiser 3: return of the sh!tty movies)

pinhead used to be a normal guy who was an explorer (around the time of ww1, i believe) who stumbled upon the magic cube thingy. the cube gives him demonic powers, but he is a slave of hell, something like that, yadda yadda yadda.

iirc, after freddy was killed by the parents, freddy came back to haunt their children's dreams. however, if they died in the nightmares, they died in real life too.

Freddy was conceived in a mental hospital by a nun who was accidentally locked in general population over the holidays and supposedly has 100 fathers or so all of which are crazy and evil and is the offspring of this rape.

Jason was just some camp fat kid who other kids picked on who drowned. His psycho mom, a devil worshipper or something, brought him back from the dead to seek vengeance on Camp Crystal Lake for them "killing" her kid.
