It's $30/year and the FAQ says you can play their games an unlimited time. But then it says it also gives you a discount on purchasing the games. What's the point of purchasing it? Don't you have the game as long as the sub is active? I mean, I'm not going to be playing Battlefield 1 or PvZ GW2 for more than a year or two anyway. Progress is saved in the cloud just the same as if it were local, correct? They don't ever seem to be taking games out.

Maybe a negative is that not all games, like Titanfall 2, are available in the Vault?

Probably discounts on games not in the vault or say you just got a 1 month sub and wanted to buy the stuff later. At $30/year it seems like a steal although I would like to see a few more games in there.

Yep that's basically it. For games not in the Vault yet if they're too new (eg. Battlefield 1), you still have to buy it. Access gives you a discount for that. It's great for PvZ GW2 for me and my son. And I get access to a bunch of other games as well.

I believe you get a flat discount on ALL Origin purchases, games or DLC. I've always seen an Access discount applied to anything they're showing me.

It's decent. I pay monthly, so its like $5 to rent 30 games for a month. I wouldn't say everyone should do it, but there aren't many reasons not to do it if you like their games and don't care about ownership.

What is the typical discount for new, non-vault games? Say, BF1 or ME Andromeda?

$30/year actually sounds kind of awesome. Was it like this when they first proposed/activated the program? I remember it sounding really quite terrible at the beginning, but I forget the details.

Access is 10% flat discount on everything. Stacks with sales as well so you get 10% on top of any sales they have.
