Oriental Noodles

Ok, I've gotten a grip of plain Oriental Noodles.

I want to make something good with it.

What can I make with them using everyday household stuff?

If I boil them with chicken or beef bullion etc. they're pretty good but not great. If I add hot sauce to that then it's even better.

Anyone have any ideas of what I can do with em? I love noodles I just have never really prepared them myself before, thus I am alone in the dark, and making digusting plates of oriental noodles.

Help please. Help computah.
 
That's it no one else has any recommendations?

I can search the internet for bland impersonal directions but that's not even the good stuff half the time.

I know some of you have Oriental Noodle secrets.

uh, I don't mean drown it in sesame but most chinese noodle dishes whether stir fried or soup has sesame oil in it.

since its flour based, you can try a stir fry like somebody suggested above.

I typically like to just stir fry some sliced beef chicken or pork in some soil + garlic chili sauce, combine with noodles and green onions,

you can add thinly sliced carrots, onions, or whatever veggies you like if you want.

and serve.

you can try doing chinese style beef noodle soup or duck noodle soup but that typically takes a long period of slowcooking the meat which you might not want to try your first time out.

yeah but when you said like pasta and olive oil.. it seems like you said SMOTHER it with sesame oil.. yeah chinese people use sesame oil.. like a teaspoon or less cause its pretty strong and aromatic...

how thick are the noodles that you bought mantis? is it thin noodles or thick noodles.. you can make like a chinese broth for it and eat it, or make like a lo mein
 
yeah, sesame oil is definitely an aromatic. don't make a sesame oil based sauce like they do in italien cooking with aglio olios.

I guess I should have been more clear in my first post.

I think lo mein is gives the highest newb factor to taste ratio here. Its your best bet.

I think I was looking for Egg Noodles when I went but I got flour by accident.

They taste a little different than what I'm used to. But the whole grocery store has Mandarin everywhere so I was a bit overwhelmed.

I am on a mission to incorporate Eastern food into my diet.

I think all great food should be treated equally, and that people should not be judged by the color of the food they eat, but by the content of their stomachs.

And by equally I just mean I want to eat everything. I used to work in a factory with people from all over the world.

My "Chinese mom" made me real pork fried rice with eggs, pork, etc. and it was the greatest thing ever. Nothing like "American Chinese Food" as she called it.

Polish people gave me pickle soup and perogies. Mexican's made me some food I can't even pronounce but it was very good.

On a semi-related note, I get sticky rice from an ex co-worker. She's Thai.

Now, she gave me a present, it's a bamboo stick with sticky rice paste inside of it and it's frozen.

Yep. That's it. I have no idea what to do with it. Anyone know what it is or what to do with it?

Hmm how can I put this.

I guess thin. Their long and flat and wrapped up.

I guess as thick (or thin) as the kind that come in Ramen packages. But they're flat.

ok.. those are rice noodles then.. they go well with soups... do not try to stir fry it or anything like that
 
No no, they say flour noodles right on it!

Rice noodles are white right?

These are yellowish. And the package says "Flour Noodles" 😛

I also meant they're not their, that bothers me.
 
ok they are like egg flour noodles then.. go cook it with stir fry.. use sesame oil soy sauce oyster sauce + veggies, meat, whatever.. and near the end dash it with a bit of sesame oil and mix well
