Organizing my files

I'm finally fed up with my unstructured file system. I am bit by bit slowly trying to organize my files, tagging my pictures and other medias, sorting my bookmarks, and making my desktop look cleaner.

Hopefully, in a year, I will have a very organized system.

Here are some things I have in mind:

1). Optimally utilized My Documents by adding a lot of My folders (e.g. My Ebooks, My Online Orders, My Credit Card Statements, My Babes, etc.)
2). Create a file naming system to describe the contents of the file optimally.
3). Mimic Dmoz or Yahoo's categories by applying them to my bookmarks.
4). Utilized Windows symbolic links (i.e. shortcuts) to prevent having redundant files (e.g. babe-twins-smart.mpg stored in one directory instead of ten).

Also, I'm going to start re-directing a copy of all my mail to a Gmail account so I can have it archive. I now have 100 invites in two accounts, so that translates to 100Gb of free space. That should lessen my Outlook PST file and make email searches quicker.

Hopefully, in a year's time, I will be able to find my files and emails easily. For instance, I can just open a report, print it, and hand it in right away instead of ranting here about how my system is so unorganized that I can't remember where I saved that report and its name.
