Organize windows XP taskbar?

Is there any software out there that would allow me to organize the taskbar window shortcuts? What I'd really like to do is specify what order they are in. Windows has it so that they appear in the order you open them up in but I'd like to be able to put them in a specific order. It would make my job 10x easier and more efficiant.

lack of foresight on MS part I guess. The ability to switch them around seems like it should be a natural thing.

It would be great if anyone knows if such a thing exists. At this point I would consider an entirely different OS and have a dual boot system (one os for work, one for everything else) if I could do this and also have the equivilant of MS Office and MS excel. It would make things much easier for me.

This might seem like a trivial thing to most but I would love to have this. There has to be some kind of shell app or mod that does something like this.

have you taken a look at any of the (multiple) windows shell replacements out there? I'd imagine one/several of them have this capability.
