There are more people here!

Anyway, Is there such thing that can make a folder with the files listed in an M3U or PLS file?

What do you guys use to organize your music?

I load my 12,000+ songs into winamp media library and load everything directly from there. same for all of our movies (around 500) and TV eps too (a few hundred)

i like the itunes quick search to play files

and copernic desktop search to find the file instantly if i need to copy or whatever. looking through directories is unecessary

I have a crapload...around 20k. all in one massive folder(God forbid, I ever have to open that running windows). Everything I listen to though, about 2k, is in an m3u.

even itunes? hell it starts bringing up results even before you finish typing the name... bring up genres/yeears whatever. can't do that with directory browsing

I have a folder called music.

I have stuff in:

Album title - artist

That is how I like to organise my music. I have a lot of playlist and play my music through Winamp that way.

I also have iTunes for my iPod but only use it to transfer my playlists. I don't like how when resizing iTunes my CPU usage on my P4 2.4GHz @ 2.699 goes to 100%! Sloppy.

I have it all under my music in folders by artist, then by cd.

I usually just play it all on shuffle. If I want to play a specific file I use the jump to file plugin for winamp and just hit j and type in the song and it finds it as I type.

for me, its:

genre, name of album (all discs into 1 folder), then song
genre, name of person, name of album(s), then song

No, I never tried iTunes, but I don't have that much so that's not really necessary.

pretty much exactly the same for me. use tagscanner to rename a bunch of files or change a bunch of tags at once. truly amazing little program

then i load em all into winamp at once and disable the tag read so winamp only displays the file names. if everything is organized (like in the pic above, artist->song number->name) finding a song is easy. plus then you can use random and play all your songs in random or undo random and listen to a whole cd.
