Organ Donor Question

I'm going to be getting my liscense soon, and I want to become an organ donor, but one thing is puzzling me, if I die somewhere NOT in a car related accident, like say I was hit by a bolt of lightning while golfing. do they still take my organs? 🙂 Just wondering.

organ donor cards are not restricted to motor vehicle accidents. If you die because you got shot in the face or something, they'll still take your heart, kidneys, etc. etc.

haha ok that answers that, but doesn't really matter, after all, what good are they to me when i'm dead anyway? 😛

Have you actually read those cards? They reserve the right to come get you anytime they need something. After all, you really didn't need your spleen anyway!

😛

Well, I didn't really care about that, but the one thing that kinda threw me off was when my uncle, who is a specialist surgeon, told me they take your corneas from your eyes, your ear bones, ANYTHING, how's your open casket funeral gonna look then!? Plus he told me the conditions of the "salvages" where they take your organs isn't exactly sanitary, because they're aiming for speed. (sighs) I wanna do the right thing, but I don't want my body to be mutilated when I die 🙁
