Do any of you people here have one, where do you get one, I have been thinking about this,If something should happen to me I would like to help someone that needs a organ, By donating my organs I could save someones life and I think that is what is important, I wont need them anymore.....

your organs will go to the highest bidder ;) anyway, it's usually an option on the back of your license. I know my organs will go to some rich family while a poor family loses a loved one, but at least i'm saving a life, rich or poor..

Convex, that's not true. The organ donor program is very strict on that -- organs are made available to those that need them the most (medical necessity) and other factors such as who's close enough to the donor that the organ can be use in time etc. Despite what some might think, there is no preference given to those with $$$.

Dogbite, most states have an option when you sign up for a drivers license to select to be an organ donor. It's a great thing to do for someone in need, especially considering it won't cost you anything.

if you can't pay for the operation, you're shafted. That's pretty much what I mean, but in a broad sort of way...man i need some sleep..

Here in Georgia, it's an option when you get your driver's license. The license is about half price if you're an organ donor.

PH half price hehe

Mine has been a donor on back of license since I got it. Unless you have an important religious reason why, I don't see why anybody would not give their organs up. Its a nice gesture on your way out.

Its only going to rott anyway and if my organs can go to somebody else well then I hope it saves a life.

Yeah here in Maryland it's also an option when you get your license. I'm assuming most states work that way.

The problem with organ donation is there would be more than enough organs for everybody if they made the simple change to the drivers licence that your an automatic doner unless you specify other wise.
I recall some european countries did this and went from shortage to surplus.
Most people don't care or even think about it, this would force thought and for those that still don't care no prob we get their organs.

I have been an organ donor since I got my license. It is an option here in Florida.

The unfortunate thing:

EVEN THOUGH it is an option on your driver's license, your endorsement there is next to meaningless if your family doesn't want your organs donated. Even if you were very specific, and your signature is there and everything, if your family doesn't want your organs donated, they WILL NOT BE. My advice: If you REALLY want to be a donor, discuss it with your family, so they know not to go against your wishes when you die.
