Organ donation

How come on licences they don't have and option for 'none'? I would like to make it clear that I don't want mine donated, but I am forced to leave it blank. Giving relatives the authority to give away my organs. :|

No, I don't want to be cut apart while parts of me are still alive. If I can be kept on machines, I want to stay on machines and if that won't sustain me I want to be cryogenically frozen.

Those are some phucked up thoughts. What if your brain is dead??!!?!?

I think it's a matter of personal choice, and I respect and understand his choice.

In my case, I feel that if I'm dead and an organ of mine can either save someone's life or improve the quality of someone's life, then by all means give my organ to that person (unless that person happens to be a convicted murderer/rapist/child molester/whatever).

When the day comes that I can't function independently I want to be unplugged and as soon as I'm dead they can do as they please.

They can't take any organs unless you opt-in, dude.

Now, in places like Brazil, for example, organ donation is an opt-out process, so there's plenty of fear that paramedics will pronounce you dead prematurely and stuff. :frown:

LMFAO, I hope that is a joke.

You say that online but I dare you to call the nurse to unplug you now!

I wish I could sell my kidney would help out a ton from the ebt I've incured the the ATHD forum 🙁 you only need one right?? anyone wanna give me 100k for one 😀

I'm hardly healthy, and if whatever I have (and have had) is some kind of infection (one of my docs is thinking it could be Lyme disease), I wouldn't want to give it to anybody through donating tissue. And my organs probably aren't the best anyway.
No not wanting my body cut to pieces or anything--if my heart and brain aren't working, cook me and eat me for all I care.

I already give blood, so I'm definately willing to give up whatever they can take when I don't need it anymore. I'd much rather be buried as an empty carcass and know that my death has helped someone, than not.

I will never donate my organs...

its just because of our custom (belief) that your spirit still lives inside your body a couple of days after you are dead before you make the "journey".

So you will STILL feel pain!! (well according to my customs that is..)

Therein lies the problem. Once you're dead, the organs are worthless for transplantation. They have to be "harvested" (actual term they use for cutting the organs out of your body) while the heart is still beating, before you're dead.

If my organs will help someone live then by all means take them. Why should I keep them if I can no longer use them?

Exactly.

If my eyes, heart, liver, kidneys, brain, fingers, toes, whatever helps some else out then I'm all for it.

Make a living will stating that you do not want any of your organs to be donated. That way it won't be up to your family, because they have to follow the will.

I agree. I want anything that can be donated to be donated. I want to help people out, even in death.
