Does the Costco in Beaverton sell gas? Out here (in Indy) Costco is usually about $.25 a gallon cheaper than anybody else (they've been around $1.65/gal for a while now)

The only CostCo I saw that sold gas was far away from Portland. I want to say Albany? It was about 30 minutes south of Woodburn, Oregon.

Costco's in Wilsonville and Salem both sell gas. Salem just built their pumps, but Wilsonville opened with gas pumps in spring 03.

I never knew there was a CostCo in Wilsonville. Where is it in relation to Fry's?

Stafford exit, in the same shopping center as Target. You can see it from the 5. About 3 miles N of Fry's. It's pretty sweet have both a Costco and Fry's so close (I can walk to Fry's in about 2 minutes 😀)

With all conversions, etc ... we're paying $2.44 US/gallon up here in Southern Ontario. 🙁

I remember when I went up to Whistler gas was expensive. I didn't know how much gas I was getting because it used liters and not gallons, so when the cost reached $35 I quit filling and payed the attendent. At the time, I was paying about $20 US to fill my tank. I estimate that the Whistler gas was at least $2.50 US.

Wow you have it made. If we could both find jobs down there I'd consider moving to Wilsonville.

Do you live in apartments or what?

Yep, right behind Fry's and the theater. Nice place, quiet, has everything I need close by. Now if only I didn't have to drive into Portland five days a week for work, I'd really have it made. But hopefully that will change soon, I should be transferring the job down to Wilsonville. 🙂 These damn gas prices are killing me lately :|

Scroll 3/4's down. Post on 02/09/03, before the Iraq Invasion, where despite popular opinion at the time that invading Iraq would lower gas prices ("Operation Unleaded $0.999"), I predicted that invading Iraq would drive oil prices up.
Two days later, gas prices went up
Continued stupidity from others on 3/10/03

Congratulations, you were able to predict price gouging. How very impressive.

I'm going to try to do that too. Here it goes. I predict that after the next major natural disaster in America the prices for food and essential consumer goods will jump in stores in and around the affected area. I know that's going out on a limb and you can call me crazy if you'd like, but I think I just might be right.

I don't see how your analogy works. Or is Iraq suddenly a natural disaster?

Look, numerous people were convinced before we invaded Iraq that the invasion would bring down the price of oil and gas. In fact, saying otherwise, that invading Iraq would raise prices, was bucking the conventional wisdom at the time. Even though IMO it was fscking obvious.

Sorry if you were one of those who were wrong. No reason for you to be bitter or to make analogies that don't work.

*sigh* My point was, whenever there's any sort of major event such as a flood, war, tornado, terrorist attack, etc. people can, and will usually exploit that to their monetary advantage when they're in the position to do so. It's really not that confusing.

As far as me being wrong; I, as did most people, realized that in the short term Iraq would cause a rise in oil prices. Long term I had no idea what it would do to oil prices. How could you a year+ out? If you're trying to get anyone to believe that you were able to predict what Iraq would do to oil prices that far in advance you're begging. This is, of course, assuming that Iraq has anything at all to do with current oil prices.

Yeah, I paid 2.24 at the cheapest place I know in Hillsboro yesterday: the Albertsons gas station across from the airport at 25th and Cornell Road.
