They work, they are light weight, but they cost 8 times what other equally performing vacuums cost. So is the light weight worth that much to you?

Hard time believing that these vacuums are THAT much better than the other ones that are alot less.

Our new housekeepers use Orecks. The first time they came, I had one vacuum with the oreck, and the other one vacuum behind her with our Dyson. They were amazed at how much more the Dyson picked up after they said the carpet was clean...BOTH have now purchased Dyson's for their own homes...
Spendy...yes, but IMO, worth it.

Consumer Reports said Orecks were the worst they tested, gave them their lowest rating. Said they were grossly overpriced

Yes, I read the same report. CR rated the Hoover Windtunnel over the Dyson as well.

Sounds like Orecks go in the same category as Bose. Expensive product, tons of money into advertising, inferior product.

Repeat that but have the Oreck after the Dyson. You'll be amazed at how much more the Oreck picks up after the Dyson supposedly cleaned it. That is a very common vacuum cleaner salesperson pitch. You have to vacuum one spot dozens of times to pick up everything (with ANY vacuum). The fact that one vacuum missed some is thus meaningless.
