Wow, was thinking about doing something like this a little over two years ago, but never attempted as I thought the equipment would not be recoverable. They did an awesome job :)

It looks like the temperature at 22 miles up(which is around 3/4 of the way through the stratosphere) is about -20ºF.

At the top of the troposphere, ~10 miles, the temperature is around -76ºF.

At the top of the stratosphere, ~31 miles, the temperature is around 5ºF.

whoa, if the Parachute was deployed at the top of the 22.27 miles, it must have taken FOREVER for it to come back down...

I've always thought that pictures taken of land from that high sort of resemble a checker board. With all the plots divided up with all those borders.
