Ordering Tonight, Please Review

Hi,

I am not a builder and not very computer literate. I've mined this site for as much info as i could and am thankful for all the help.

This is the build I am ordering from a local computer shop. I've talked to about 6 in my area and this seems to be the best price i can find in my area.

Following system will be used for web surfing and movies mostly....with a little Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 played on lowest settings. (if need be) I understand there may be better options out there...but this seems to be the parts available at the stores in my area.

I was just hoping for some input on what is there and if it all fits together good and if there aren't any glaring defiencies or obvious rip offs/compatability issues.....i will be ordering tonight.

x3 amd 435, 2.9g, $89
powercolor ati 5670, 512m video card, $99
2 x 2g ddr2 -800 transcend, $59 x 2
western digital 500g 16m cache sata, $55
lg dvdrw sata, $30
1289 computer case with 500w power supply, $39
asus M4A78 Plus motherboard with on board audio, lan, $95
windows 7 home premium 64 bit oem, $125
environmental handling fee, $5.5

price include assembly and OS, DRIVERS, install
total = $655.5 + tax = $734.16

(CDN.....though money is at par with u.s. , parts are still a bit more in Canada)

Made another thread eh?? 🙄

It looks good. But before you finalize, is ATI 4850 available at stores near you?

If you have a 4850 for under $105 I say grab it instead of 5670.

Yeah I was gonna say the 4850 over the 5670 and the WD Black 640 over the one you picked. It's $20 more, but it's one of the fastest mechanical.

?

that is my budget. 30 dollars over it actually.
So if you damage a component due to inexperience, you can't afford to replace it?

@OP Also, how's the warranty when buying this from a local shop? I'm just wondering since you could probably buy from Dell, HP, or whomever and those will at least come with some sort of warranty.

warranty is 1 year parts and labour.

no, the 4850 wasn't available.....atleast i think it wasn't.

If it dies in a year i don't care. (i buy a lottery ticket everyday, so odds are eventually i'll win...right? i failed math)

I already ordered, so the 640 Harddrive is out......sigh, ohwell....me 20 dollars will have to dry my tears.

I don't have a credit card, so dell would be out. I could i suppose reload a prepaid one...but if there was an issue, wouldn't i have to just ship it to dell? rather than just bring it in my local shop. I'm far too angry a person to rebox something and then ship it off and then wait....i'd probably be on here asking how to construct a bomb if i had to do that.

thanks for the replies......

You're not serious, are you?

LOL. That's one way to look at it - the lottery is a tax on those that failed math class.

i read a book called "scarne on cards", basically about how to cheat at card games.

in the preface, he says pretty much exactly that. if people were required to take statistics in school, luck based games like the lottery or slot machines would die out.

You're assuming that most people aren't inherently stupid. I know plenty of people that took a statistics class in either high school or college that still play the lottery.
