room is 6x12 with a standard tub and a 6' vanity.
obviously 72' is an easy answer but I'd have lots left over and the tile isn't cheap. I don't need tile under the vanity do I?

You will be cutting a lot, plus if this is your first time you will have a few oops moments. Usually you'll get a tile you dont like the look of, either. 10% is the norm. I usually get a few extra so if one gets damaged you can replace it with the same color.

pro installing so I hope there are not too many "oops" moments :)
its 1" hex tile on 1'x1' sheets.

I guess that's what I was looking for the "standard overage" to buy. Do I need tile for under the vanity though? thats ~12sq ft worth.

Don't forget to add 10% ;) Like I said, lots of cuts will be made.

I have the 10% built in already. Room is 6x12ft and the tub is 2x6 so thats 12 "extra" feet right there.

You can do 12" tile, but for smaller rooms, I usually try to use 18" tile. The downside is that it's harder to cut, but it ends up making the room look bigger because there are less lines on the floor.

The 12" is cheaper. You can do most cuts with nippers and a scratch cutter. Some of the tile can be found at Lowes or HD for $.80-1.00 each.

Tile under your vanity. Just be sure to take time to seal the tile good before you put it back down. It will help protect your subfloor if you ever get a leak. as well as protect you if you ever replace the vanity with one that's slightly different in the future or switch to a pedastal sink.

BTW...most places like Lowes and HD will take the tiles you don't use back...so get what you need and return the rest.
