ok i don't really understand how their system is set up... you can get a pre-made T41 @ 1.6Ghz and the SXGA screen, but when you try to build your own, selecting the 1.6Ghz processor grays out the SXGA option leaving you with just XGA?

but then you can *not* upgrade the hard drive on the pre-made model (2379DJU) to one with 7200 RPM, but you can when you custom-make it? and why is the pre-made one so much cheaper than the build-it-yourself one... i can't imagine a faster drive accounts for about $300 in price difference...

also do you guys think i should wait for the T42 to come out... will the price drop much for the T41's?

if you start at discover or mastercard.com, you can link thru to ibm and get some models a lot cheaper. I got the 23731FU for $1499 that way. I placed the order with a sales rep and told him I wanted to use my amex for the free warranty extension they provide, and he said no problem.

it took me a few visits to their site before I saw the link to 'view all models'. sometimes a better config is < $ than a lower end one.
also make sure you look at the special offers under customize - the reps don't tell you you can get a 2d battery free ;)

ewwww that's a nasty typo!! Maybe you can call in an order, or hope they change it in the next few days. I placed my order on the 14th and it was free, for several days after. Maybe they ended that promo? Still, $1499 is a decent price..
it's $150 more for employees, a little more than that for shareholders and $1900 if you're a poor shmuck that just goes to ibm.com

the offers are always changing, so if you're not in a hurry, roll the dice.. :D
