Tomorrow I will buying the CML174SXW, and was just wondering a few things.

1) I?ve seen a kind of graininess on other LCD monitors kinda like u can see the pixels and this is kinda annoying, how evident is it on the Hitachi? (if at all)

2) Does it have much of a problem at viewing from angles? If you move just a little to the side when using it, does the picture go funny? I ask because I like to lean against the wall when browsing which puts me at a slight angle and I don?t want it to be a problem on my Hitachi. I can?t exactly measure that angle but it isn?t much just a bit off centre, will this be a problem? Do I have to always be perfectly centred?

3) Will I regret buying this monitor???? :D lol

Thanks.

UPDATE* Wooooooo got the Hitachi today and let me just say, this monitor simply ROCKS!!!!!

Ghosting - Non existent
Clarity - Blows away any CRT I have ever seen.
Colors - Amazing, some reds are a touch orange but its really no concern

And my eyes have never felt better :D

I do have a few questions for other Hitachi owners.

1) Does windows detect it as a Hitachi? Cause I?m using what ever winxp used to install it and it wont update to the Hitachi drivers, is it ok to leave it like that? Is there a way to get it to recognise as a Hitachi rather than a "plug and play" monitor?

2) When I go to the OSD the Auto and input select tab has Analogue input Highlighted Red, but it?s connected using DVI, what does this mean? Is this right?

Thanks for everyone's input in past threads on this monitor, it really was a great choice!!!

:D

Run at the native resolution, probably 1280x1024 and it will be fine, if you go lower then it will look blocky.

I don't sit directly in front of my Samsung 191T, and I can see things fine. The viewable angles won't be as good as a CRT generally, but you shouldn't have a problem.

I don't regret my LCD. I wouldn't want a 17" though, I'm waiting for 16ms response time 19" panels to come out. THen I'll probably get a second monitor.

before you get the cml174 take a look at the NEC 1760NX.i have the hitachi and i may replace it with the nec after i look at it some more @ a store.from what i have seen so far the nec did something the hitachi cant, it swivels right and left.the hitachi only goes up and down.the blacks are blacker and darker on the nec, on the hitachi u can see its not 100% black as theres bleed thru from the back light on the edges of the screen.im going to see how it does when i look at some images on it tommorow and see if im going to replace the hitachi with a nec..

Xernex-

Glad you found that you made a good purchase..... I still love mine.
As for your questions: Winxp detects mine as a "plug and play" monitor also, I think that is normal. As far as the OSD, when you have it hooked up dvi mode, it overides some of the OSD functions. I found that this monitor does much better with dvi over the analoge mode, but you don't have as many options in the OSD.
