Most often asked one - XGA or UXGA with Truelife? I use a 1280x1024 resolution on my desktop right now.

Warranty. I am still considering whether to get a 1 year warranty or 2 year warranty?

Is that "complete care" package ****** necessary? I don't plan on dropping my laptop a lot..lol

Thanks!

Budget is 1500 (shipped) with a total of 700$ of worth of coupons. So Laptop price has to be around 1350$.

If you use a res of 1280x1024 right now, the XGA should be fine for you. I would opt for the UXGA, but I really don't like the glare on the 'Truelife' screen. It's awful. Your choice I suppose.

About the warranty. I decided to cheap out on mine. When I bought it, it only had a ninety day warranty. Since the warranty expired, I have scratched the screen, and somehow, somewhere, dropped it and caused the corner of the laptop to crack, and the DVD drive refuses to read blank DVD's now. The crack is on the same side as the DVD drive.

So, if you're running short on cash now, I would recommend the 1 year + complete care. They will send you an offer to extend the warranty when its close to the end of one year, and you can reevaluate it then.

As much as you think you're going to take care of your laptop, stuff does happen to it.

Are there any pics of the UXGA sceen and XGA screen comparisons? This is just too confusing.

I might go for the one year warranty right now and extend it later for the warranty case.

Yes, the 9400 was announced, but it's a bit more expensive.

Check out notebookforums.com There's an awful lot of Dell owners over there. I found this thread:
http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=56036&highlight=wxga
That has a WXGA+ and a WUXGA+ on the i9200 side-by-side. It's not the 9300, but it is a 17" laptop, the 9200 does not have the Truelife screen option.

If you're interested in the Complete Care, YOU MUST BUY IT WITH THE COMPUTER.

There is no 'add-on' option for it after purchase.

I am liking the WUXGA for its more screen area. Helpful since I am a programmer/developer.

I am still undecided whether to get Complete Care or not though.

What you really care about is the pixel size, often called pixel pitch. Dell has this information in the "Help me decide" area.

First find the pixel pitch of your monitor. Then compare that to the PP of the new lappy screen. Then make an intelligent decision based on the comparison. Easy!!!

WAIT WAIT WAIT!!! dont buy one yet! The new Dual Core Yonah's are suposed to come out VERY VERY SOON!. Also, even if there is a wait, get the larger screen. And upgrade the GFX card.

if your budget is 1350 or so, then build one up to be $2000 on the dot and use the $750 off of $2000 coupon, after tax, it will come out to be almost $1350 exactly and you will end up with a LOT more of a laptop

That would be the 9400 at a heafty price premium. Which makes the 9300 with a $750 coupon a bargin.
