My friends wife asked me to help her order my friend a new Laptop for christmas. I only had a few minutes to decide since she was in a hurry to order it, so I went to dell.com and ordered this. Please keep in mind that this computer will be 65% business and 35% gaming so I went with the 8600 series over the XPS because of there short battery time and wieght.
Here is what we ordered.
Inspiron 8600,Intel Pentium M Processor 755 (2.0GHz), 15.4-in WSXGA+
512MB,DDR,333MHz,1 Dimm, Inspiron 8600
128MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9600PRO Turbo Video Card, Inspiron 8600
60GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive for Inspiron 8600 (7200 rpm)
8x CD/DVD Burner (DVD+RW,+/-R)
Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem
72Watt Primary Battery
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 (802.11b/g) Internal Wireless
4 Year Warranty including Accidental Insurance
In total it came to about $2500
I know there are better brands for the money out there but they are big Dell fans so I couldnt change that. Do you think this computer is capable of handling games like Half Life 2 and how is the entire setup in general notebook terms?
