Ordered last night from TigerDirect... was it a mistake??

I ordered an Epox 8K7A+ from tigerdirect.com. Just afterward, I looked at resellerratings.com, which gave tigerdirect a 2.8/7.0!!! There were all these horrible stories... I nearly had a heart attack!

Well, I then went to bizrate.com, where over 25000 people rated it, and saw a score of 8.4/10... not bad. Not wonderful, but not bad. Phew...?

The thing is, the "purchase" button at the Epox website links to tigerdirect, and one would expect some reason to that. Anyways, I would have ordered elsewhere, but I looked for the longest time... I called soooo many places that were all out of stock. Tigerdirect said it was in stock (though apparently it isn't anymore - a friend called earlier today). So I ordered it.

Was this a really bad idea?

(BTW, their website has been down all day, which doesn't help)

TigerDirect may not get the best ratings, but they HAVE been around forever. I somehow got on their mailing list years ago (I probably ordered one thing), and I got their catalog for probably three years until they finally stopped coming in 1998 or so. Because Epox has an exclusive deal with them to order straight from their website, they are likely to quickly fix any problems you may have, whether it's a DOA board or anything else. I wouldn't worry too much.

i've never used tigerdirect, but i HAVE heard that they're not that bad. they've also been around for years, so i think you're pretty safe ordering from them.

i know what you mean about everyone being out of stock and having to settle for "shady" internet companies. but i think you'll be fine.

tigerdirect is known to have decent barebones systems as well

They are a huge company - they even have their own printed catalog of hardware, etc that I used to recieve from them. They seemed way overpriced the last few times I checked, though.

I don't think I'll ever buy from them. I've heard MANY horror stories about their BlasterPC.

I've had a co-worker who always used Tigerdirect.

She seems to have very good history with them and believe me, she's ordered tons from them before.

Thanks everyone, your posts have been for the most part reassuring. But if the guy on the phone was wrong and it actually wasn't in stock, then... something big is going to happen! :|
