I bought a door from a junkyard in MN that looked mint in pictures, but when I picked it up from the terminal, there was some paint damage not as a result of the crate packaging being broken (probably rough handling in the yard). I have to get the door repainted in addition to getting the small dings pulled out. What do you think is a reasonable amount to ask for a partial refund for the door not matching description?

Got me on buying things from a junkyard.

I take it they just looked up a pic from somewhere else and posted it as the door to begin with.

I asked them for additional pictures before buying, and they looked fine. I'm not returning the door, I am just hoping they would refund some money for not matching description of what they were selling.

You are upset at the quality of an item that you bought at what is essentially a garbage dump? If you wanted exactly what you expected you should have gone to a 'you pull' place.

If you didn't see it due to poor quality pictures or you didn't look closely enough, then nada. If it's clear they doctored the pictures or sent you pictures of another item while saying it is the item you're getting, then you'd have a case.

Live and learn.

If you expected a pristine door from a salvage yard, that was pulled from a USED CAR, you need to learn to manage your expectations.

They probably kept a 2 megapixel 640X480 camera around just for those that want "extra pictures" LOL. Unless it was like an '11, '12 model you've got to expect some dings.

Yep, then jam your pockets full of free stuff like spare fuses, bulbs and such.

I would call them and tell them you are displeased and see if they will refund some of your money. Can't hurt to try right?
