Ok I ordered a PS3 Slim. Now I was wondering can you use the controller to control the Blu-Ray fuctions? Like fast forward pause etc? If not what universal remote would you recommend to get?

Yes, you can use the controller to control the BR functions, just like with the PS2.

Is their any Universal remote that has both Bluetooth and IR reception built into it without any type of a dongle?

Engadget.com mentions one coming out soon but it's $50.

I just bought the Sony PS3 remote and keep it alongside my man remote.

Well, I saw this announced today: Engadget

There's also this thing: Link

But that second one has been "coming soon" for a year or more and I never heard of them until I saw that a while back, so I'm not sure I'd bother waiting on it. You'll need something like the remote in the first link or do like almost everyone else and get a Harmony with an IR-to-BT adapter.

Also, the new slim model supports HDMI-CEC, which Sony calls "Bravia Link". That allows HDMI devices to talk to one another. So if you have a TV or receiver that supports HDMI-CEC you should be able to control the PS3, to an extent, with a standard IR remote through one of those devices. But according to Engadget's PS3 slim review there are two major problems. First, there's no way to back out of menus and, second, you can't power on the PS3 using HDMI-CEC. So that makes it pretty worthless.

I would just get the Logitech PS3 adapter and a Harmony remote. The adapter sits out of the way next to the PS3 unlike a dongle which is a pain.

The Harmony remote costs a fortune though, and the PS3 adaptor is $60 on top of that. Might as well just get the Sony BD remote. Having two isn't that big a hassle.

The PS3 controller works perfectly fine as a playback remote. $50 to look cool is too pricey IMO.

Where did you buy this and do they have any woman remotes?
