I bought a D-Link DWA-522 paired with the D-Link DIR-655. I had WIndows XP Pro on my rig when I installed it. I installed the drivers that were on the CD, everything alright.

On router I set stati IPs to each device on the router (DHCP reservation it was).

Now I wanted to try VIsta so I got all the proper drivers for gfx, mb, and sound card. PLus I got the driver for wireless card. I try the windows update drivers for the card, and each time I connect to the network I freeze within 2 minutes of boot, sometimes when the windows logo appears. I know its not the router because it doesnt freeze when Im conncted hard wire. And it only freezes when the driver is installed. I then tried 64 bit version, and had the same luck.

Main problem is, after a minute or so, computer just locks up, freezes last image, and has no responce to any buttons.

Now, I was just wondering two things, would the driver freeze the computer just because it has a static IP?

And

Would the order of my cards on mother board, change the way drivers work slightly? Say if I put Wireless card in first slot, would I still freeze because of driver?

Thanks

One thing to try is hit F8 while booting into Vista (just after post start pressing F8) and select the option to ignore driver signing requirement (somewhere toward the bottom of the list of different boot options).

I have found that this enable me to run various software that simply won't run on Vista otherwise.
