Yup, it is really disappointing when you are close to being able to complete the ultimate Rube Goldberg trap setup and the level ends.

nightmare is a bitch lol

Wow. Yes it is. The fact you don't get any breaks - or even any time out of the gate to set things up - well, that sucks.

At this point I have no intention of completing the game on Nightmare, I just wanted some more skulls so I could more easily get five skulls on all of the War Mage levels.

I am getting a lot of skulls with either 5 or 4 skull scores on nightmare, mostly because if it is to the point that baddies are getting to the rift it has gone so horribly sideways that you are basically effed...

Ohhh I love the idea of a survival mode!

But I am still stuck on the last level.

Argh! I always get killed by an armored ogre at the last round of the finale. I keep getting 4/5 skulls on it :-\

Downloaded the demo, loved it, bought the full version and then it didn't launch! Had to verify or validate or whatever in Steam then it worked. Anyhow, this game is tons of fun!

Just curious, what exactly determines the amount of skulls that you get. I got 4/5 on the last demo level even though none of the orcs managed to reach the rift (I think.)

Do you lose skulls if you lose too much hp?

Click the 'stats' button after you complete the level, it breaks down your score. What might be getting you is that there's a time limit, if you go over it's minus one skull.

This is what I don't like about nightmare. Playing a level now and I can't find time to sell traps, including the ones set accidentally during some frantic button mashing. I understand it needs to be hard, but the fun of TD games (for me anyway) is laying out the map and planning. Nightmare takes a lot of that away.

I had the same problem.

Took a lot of clicking but the answer is.

When selecting a map to play, click on "campain" at the top of the screen and it will change to the DLC name (what ever that was, can not remember) and the maps below become the new maps.

Wanted to chime back in that I beat all the levels on Nightmare and hold a highspot of 33rd on the Rebirth map on that difficulty.

So, you need to be good with the lighting AoE attack and use the ice amulet to take out the big guys - that was the trick to Nightmare for me.
