why is it that every flight i click on brings up the error message "that flight isn't available anymore" or "that flight is now 2x the price that we advertised it for"

Airline prices just jumped drastically. :(

Was about to score two tickets to New Orleans for under $500, but now prices are insane.

they have a habit of raising the price on you by the time you customize a selection. We went through the same thing a few months back.

when are you booking your flights for?
if it's for july, and you're booking now? then you have most certainly definitely missed the cheap tickets (there are a few exceptions however)

and the reason why the rates you might see on their website doesn't match the one advertised might be because afaik, airlines reserves only a certain number of seats at certain prices. so for example, if there are 50 seats to be sold. 10 will be the ridiculously cheap ones, then the rest will gradually go up. so therefore the first people are the ones who usually get the best rates.

I used orbitz about 4 years ago to reserve hotel rooms in New Orleans. It was a Days Inn in the buisness district, 2 blocks from the french quarter.
It only costed me like $80 a night, when the regular rates there were $150. This was during Jazzfest, which to my knowledge is the second busiust time of year for them.
