Orb vs. Heatsink/Fan

On a lot of hardware retailers, I've noticed that some are selling orb fans as opposed to the regular heatsink/fan combos. Are these actually better and really worth it? If so, which one would be best to buy? (I was looking around in here)

what are you wanting to cool?

If you are looking for a socket A cooler, then it's not too hard to beat the Super Orb. It's not that great at cooling, and it isn't quiet either.

yeah, im looking to cool my socket A 1.33ghz t-bird. what should I get in terms of a HSF and thermal compound? (im thinking of a tai sol fan, and arctic silver II)
