Orb on MSI K7T Pro?

Is there any problem fitting the Chrome Orb DUO462 on the MSI K7T Pro, or do I need the compact "mini" version? (DUO462-2)

They are the same price but I don't want to order the wrong one and have it not fit. Assume it would be better to use the regular version for cooling effectiveness.

Thanks.

The regular Chrome Orb will fit perfectly on all K7T boards that I know of, but.. Personally, I think you should invest in a better heatsink/fan. What CPU are you going to be using? Chrome Orbs don't perform as well as $15 Taisol fans..

I used to have a regular Chome Orb on my old MSI Pro....it fit fine. I also think you need a better cooler if you are going to OC. I was getting 40c idle and 45c full load with he Orb. When I upgraded to the Pro2 to OC the same chip I had in the Pro, I switched to alpha 6035. I am now getting 32c idle and 34c Full load...PS I also used Artic Silver.

Going to be running a 1ghz Athlon, no overclocking. The Chrome Orb is available for $18cdn (around $12 usd) so I thought it would be the most cost effective. If your telling me a generic heatsink fan would perform better (which are about $20cdn locally) then I'll get that instead.

I just want to make sure I have adequate cooling for a non-overclocked 1gz chip, at the best price, without having to hunt around the continent to actually get the darn thing. The place I'm ordering the CPU from only seems to offer the chrome orb.

Hrm. I'm a bit ansy about running a 1GHz TBird witha Chorme Orb. Those things give off a lot of heat. How about a Taisol HSF? Those aren't quite as expensive as some of the other HSFs, but offer decent performance.

Ya but where can I get a Taisol HSF in Canada? Its a question of whats available as well as cost. If its really going to be a problem to use the Chrome orb on the 1gz chip then I guess I'll have to find something else but if its adequate I'd rather just use it.
