A data-point for the theory that he is basically just a puppet.

I can't decide how they all relate to each other - is Trump the decrepit Hindenburg and Musk the Hitler figure, or is Trump the Hitler and Musk is the industrialist, foolishly bankrolling him in the belief he can control him?

Which of them is going to emerge on top?

Hitler would be deeply ashamed to be compared to these two idiots. Trump and Musk rode the short bus to evil school.

I actually agree. You could accuse Hitler of many things, but cowardice was not among them. No magical bonespurs with Adolf. He'd get out of the car and join his security detail beating the shit out of protestors and communists. Trump, on the other hand, just smells like shit.

It is interesting that both Trump and Musk are true cowards in just about every sense of the word.... strange how they gather so much respect on the far right.

A program for teenagers with serious disabilities was terminated because someone working under Captain Apartheid did a Ctrl+F for the word "transition".

I'm a contractor and I do a lot of work with stuff that has to do with analytics and stuff like that, and an email went out on the government side saying we had to scrub code, confluence, and documents for DEI terms, and that they realize we will run into things like "diverse" and "inclusion" because that just comes with the territory when dealing with analytics. The email was basically giving instructions on that if you found those terms that it doesn't mean it had to be removed, but would require someone to vet it and make the decision on it.

Thankfully I wasn't tasked to waste my time working on that. It was all government people who had to do that.

Every single person I work with thinks this is such a fucking waste of time and resources, government and contractors, and they all hate it.

There were other emails about having to remove pride flags and stuff like that from your desk as well. I know one person I work with on my floor is gay and wears a rainbox lanyard with all her access stuff on it. So now she can't wear it because Trump is the biggest fucking snowflake.

There was another email that went out about removing DEI posters in the buildings I work in, and there was a very specific poster they posted a screen shot of that literally had like 3 minorities on it just promoting diversity in the workplace. Then there was this excel grid on there telling which government people in which building on which floor were responsible for looking at the posters hung up on the walls and removing ones such as the one they gave an example of.

Just a total waste of fucking time worrying about stuff that literally has zero affect on them.

Neo-segrationists. They should be given no quarter. Everyone start wearing rainbow pins and whatnot in solidarity.

Are you worried about your jobs in your department? I mean these guys just got started.
I am and I am not. Being a contractor with 20 years experience as a software engineer, if for some reason my current role was cut, I am confident my current company could find me another role that I can fill. I also know that my position and in my space can't just be filled by anyone, so I feel like there is some sort of job security. I am also pretty sure that the agency I do my work for did not have any bad blood with Trump, so there is that.

I am more worried that I am going to lose the ability to work remotely. That is going to really fuck with my livelihood basically because I had my 2nd kid during covid where we transitioned to working from home and I have completely adapted my lifestyle to it. Without it, my wife wouldn't even be able to work part time right now, which will be full time once my 4 year old is in kindergarten next fall. Well, without having to actually pay for some sort of day care or something that is.

I’m expecting the shit to start hitting the fan on Tuesday. Probationary employees will be let go.

Now to the ignorant that sounds perfectly fine. In reality probationary employees are high performing contractors with significant experience who have converted to Civil Service in the last year. From agencies that have already let go probationary employees it seems they are being let go for “poor performance “. That should also prevent them from getting unemployment.

Once that’s processed I expect them to RIF a large number of us. They are using AI to build dossiers and flow charts of how each agency works in order to figure out how to reduce personnel.

The question will be if instead of a RIF where we are guaranteed severance and access to retirement we’ve earned will they “fire for cause” which locks us out of unemployment, retirement and severance.

It would be easy enough to fight with copies of our performance records but they’ve been firing and crippling the board that civil servants can use to fight these actions.

This level of extortion is straight out of the Mafia playbook.

Ukraine rejects Trump bid to take rights to half its mineral reserves

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has rejected a US bid to take ownership of around 50 per cent of the rights to his country’s rare earth minerals and is trying to negotiate a better deal, according to several people familiar with the matter.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent offered Zelenskyy the deal during a visit to Kyiv on Wednesday, which came after President Donald Trump suggested the US was owed half a trillion dollars’ worth of Ukraine’s resources in exchange for its assistance to the war-torn country...

I was wondering how they were going to obfuscate the unemployment numbers going up when all these federal employees get laid off, but what I bolded just gave me the answer. If they can't file for unemployment, they won't show up as such for the next jobs report, will they?

Hey Trump has a fix for FAA issues and airline safety !!!!

---
---
Trump begins firings of FAA air traffic control staff just weeks after fatal Washington DC plane crash
The Associated Press reports that the Trump administration has begun firing several hundred Federal Aviation Administration employees, upending staff on a busy air travel weekend and just weeks after a January fatal mid-air collision at Ronald Reagan Washington National airport.

Probationary workers were targeted in late-night emails on Friday notifying them they had been fired, David Spero, president of the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists union, said in a statement.

The affected workers include personnel hired for FAA radar, landing and navigational aid maintenance, one air traffic controller told the Associated Press. The air traffic controller was not authorized to talk to the media and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Spero said messages began arriving after 7pm on Friday and continued late into the night. More might be notified over the long weekend or barred from entering FAA buildings on Tuesday, he said.

The employees were fired “without cause nor based on performance or conduct”, Spero said, and the emails were “from an ‘exec order’ Microsoft email address” – not a government email address.

The firings hit the FAA when it faces a shortfall in controllers. Federal officials have been raising concerns about an overtaxed and understaffed air traffic control system for years, especially after a series of close calls between planes at US airports. Among the reasons they have cited for staffing shortages are uncompetitive pay, long shifts, intensive training and mandatory retirements.

This whole thing unravels if Musk stops paying SSI to like almost everybody in the country because he thinks it is"fraud" due to being a huge idiot.

Oh boy, this is gonna mean something in a future: the end of the pensions. The old people will realize very late that their pensions are no longer available.

And if US eliminates pensions, the impact on the rest of the world will be totally insane. Without pensions how the elderly will have the rights to defend themselves?

This idiot looks at a single database with completely unrealistic numbers and thinks that's all SSA was using to send checks, nevermind that I'm there are probably pools of tables, with multiple entries per SSN (ie, tracking name changes, address changes, etc...).

A part of me wants him to touch the stove, because a lot of people are tuned out.
