Orange Box for 360? Should I get it?

Hi all. I have been dying to play TF2 and Portal. I have HL2 for the PC and can get TF2 and Portal from steam but thats 40 bucks. I can get the orange box for 360 new for tha same price. Lately I have not even turned on my PC at all. Been playing Xbox 360 like mad. Is there a big difference from the PC version and the 360 version other than I can use a KB/Mouse on the PC? Is it just as good/fun on the 360?

This thread will probably devolve into KB/mouse vs gamepad. Really, if you prefer one of those over the other I would let that make your decision. I don't think there are significant differences other than the obvious differences between consoles and PCs.

I've seen clearance stickers on it at my local Target, but I didn't note the price. YMMV.

I am a big fan of the Orange Box on the 360 - I played a ton of TF2. The biggest downside is the community is very small compared to the PC. There aren't a lot of people playing it, and the PC version has new maps/upgrades that the 360 version does not (yet?) have.

Portal plays the same, but many claim a lot of the more advanced maneuvers are much easier with a KB/Mouse since you can whip yourself around faster with it. I never had a problem.

I played through all of TOB on the 360, it was a good experience but I felt that TF2 wasn't all it was cracked up to be on the 360 and the engine was really showing its age. The package is a great value, and everyone should play and beat Portal (it took me about 3 hours to finish it my first go through), but I'd almost suggest renting it first and see what you think before jumping in.

When I got to the end of Episode 2, I had just about all I could take of the Half Life universe and don't think I'll be making a return trip anytime soon.

I have fully become acclimated to the gamepad for FPS on the 360. Been playing lots of COD4 on the 360 even though I played and finished on the PC. Just love COD4 that I wanted to be able to play it anywhere I went. 🙂 Want to know of differences like ducci mentioned. New maps are a plus as is online play. Have there been any upgrades for the 360?

In terms of features for PC version vs 360 version, PC will probably win out all the time due to community content. Couple that with a very large TF2 userbase, if you're really interested in TF2, I'd probably suggest the PC version over the 360 version. There are no Microsoft related achievements on the PC version.

I have Orange Box for PC, but I hardly ever play it. Mostly because when I'm at my computer, I usually have other things to do (mainly photoshopping pictures). I plan on buying it for 360 sometime because lately I feel like I can only play games in my living room. I'll probably still play TF2 on PC, but for Portal/HL2/Episode 1/2, I'll probably go through those on 360.

Anyway, I point this out because playing it on 360 will probably be better than not playing it at all. So make sure you'll actually play it on PC if you get it for PC.

I've been seriously addicted to TF2 lately, great game, just wish there were more CTF maps.

PC version definitely. My girl got me the 360 version... its still good, but I wanted to play TF2 on the PC, not on XBL. It is EXTREMELY laggy & the community is small on XBL. People boot you all the time without giving you a chance as well.

I'd go for the PC version. They just released a large update for the PC version with new medic weapons, a slew of medic achievements, a new play mode and map to go with it (goldrush). There's similar updates coming for the other classes at somepoint as well. I don't believe any of those updates are coming to the 360 since they'd break compatibility with the Arcade/Core versions. Also I'm pretty sure the PC version has a larger community and a bunch of nice the user created maps. We've also got the ATTF2 steam group and gaming nights. Link

oh and KB/Mouse > Controller. Although I am slowly getting better with the controller.

PC version, probably cheaper, and eventually, depending on your rig, you can fire it up at max resolution with AA and all that just for fun.
