Oral hygiene?

Rogue

Banned
Just got back from the dentist today and got the usual lecture, "You should be flossing everyday....blah, blah, blah...."

Anyway, I forgot to ask what the optimal order was of flossing, brushing and mouthwashing was, so guess what? Poll (Pole, Pule, Polle, Pola, etc.) time on ATOT!

brush

than floss

than mouthwash

i use mouthwash last so i can get all that junk out of my mouth

Brush, mouthwash, go to work (floss in private office), then drink 2 fisted Diet Coke and coffee. 😛

Not true. Many oral health professionals recommend flossing first.

Brush then floss then rinse. I can't stand mouth wash, i usually just chew a stick of sugar free gum when im done.

See, that's what I though too! It makes no sense to me to brush, then floss, then rinse. Seems to me that you should floss first, to knock loose and remove all the stuff between the teeth, then brush and finally rinse to kill any remaining stuff that both flossing and brushing didn't get.

you are a dentist?

do you floss first? i think flossing after brushing is more appropriate as brushing secondly can push the
materia alba back into the interproximal areas. 😀
then using a fluoride rinse after flossing will wash it all away.

The citrus listerine is pretty good stuff, not nearly as bad as the original.
Usually floss before brush, would it really matter if you use a mouthwash?

Whimp. I keep original listerine in for 5 minutes.

Floss first. Flossing is as important as brushing. Don't overlook it folks. Don't come crying to me when u have perio disease and need 4 quads of scaling done.

Floss, mouthwash, brush. I figure rinsing with listerine after I floss would be more effective, since the gums are loosened around your teeth and the listerine can be more effective. I have sometimes wondered what would be the most effective, though. But the results of this poll won't sway me at all.

I brush, floss, brush quickly again, rinse with 1/2 mouthwash and 1/2 hydrogen peroxide, and then a final rinse with just mouthwash.
