Oracle Server Config ???

Didnt get any play in OS forum, so wil try here:

Here is the scenario:

New ERP system running Oracle as it's dbase.

HD config:
18gb 15k scsi x2 Raid 1
36gb x3 raid 5

C-ntloader
D-2k server
e-pagefile
f apps
H (raid 5) 1 part. for dbase.

I already know about oracle on windows 🙂

The vendor wanted a straight c,d,e config which I said NO way to.

I want them to install the oracle app on f with their erp software and have the Dbsae files only on H (sperate controller and physical drives of course). They seem to have never heard of this.

Any thoughts from the Oracle gurus?

I would like the Oracle app on it's own controller and the dbase on it's own physical drives, am I crazy?

( I really wanted them on 2 seperate servers, but got shot down for that too.

This will be for approx 20 users

server is dual 2.8ghz Xeons with 3Gb of pc2100

In all reality, I don't think 20 users will notice a huge difference from one way or the other. However, in a production system that is expected to grow, I would say you are headed in the right direction.

Here's my impression of the OS forum:

Ahem.

"Windows question"
Response - "Windows sucks. Use linux. pH3@r the apt-get. We don't need to defrag or worry about the registry." 😉

"Linux question"
Response - "There's a thread stickied. Do a search. RTFM. Buy an apple" 😉

That's why I hang out in this forum 😀
