Oracle Enterprise Linux

Hello all,

Since i am new to Linux i am not afraid to ask. I am a skilled Microsoft System Engineer in a pursuit for an Active Directory solution under Linux. I overheard that Oracle Enterprise Linux can serve as a PDC.

How can i do this? Or did i heard wrong? Any help is much appreciated...

Do you need to integrate it with active directory? Not sure if you can do that or not, but Oracle has products that do LDAP authentication. Cant keep the product names straight but it would probably either be Oracle Identity Management or Oracle Internet Directory.

I believe Fedora also has its own flavor of Identity Management.

But I all of these solutions would most likely be based on OpenLDAP, which can be installed on any linux distribution

Oracle Enterprise Linux is actually a flavor of red hat 5 that oracle tune to better perform for their database platforms.

modern oracle databases use technologies such as SDD's and infiniband and so OEL is tuned and supposedly offers much better performance then standard red hat linux. that is all.

and yes, oracle do have an LDAP solution called Oracle Internet Directory. but instead,
i suggest you go to this link and have a look:

I'm quite sure you can find a free alternative that won't cost you anything and will work just as well.
