i bought a 50 pak of optodisc dvd+r from chief value for about 11$ last week. I know that for that price its gotta be pretty crappy. Still, i thought they would at least burn stuff, right? wrong. I first tried burning it 8x. burned through without any problems, but when i scanned it with dvdpro, it was filled with errors. Well, its cheap, so i guess i should expect that i thought. So i burned it again at 4x. Still got errors. So i tried it at 2x, thinking that there's no way that it could mess up at that speed. man, was i wrong. nothing but errors. i thought that i might be my pc, so i burned one of my other 'better' dvd's at 8x. perfect burn, no errors. now i have 50 (potential) coasters. the moral of the story: F**K optodisc, F**K chief value!

By errors, do you mean actual unrecoverable read errors?

I've had enough bad experiences with Ritek discs that everybody seems to love that I stick with Taiyo Yuden for everything now. Even Verbatims have more compatibility problems in set-top players I've used.

Yeah, f*** Chiefvalue!

And MSI!!!

And AMD!!!

And Prime 95!!!

And ATI!!!

Ok, I'm overreacting. Personally, I like chiefvalue but never tried Optodisc media before. 😛 And Maxtor!!!

the errors were write errors (as in the disc didnt burn) which does translate to read errors (i guess). in anycase the disc cant burn worth S**t. well, i probably shouldnt be cursing chief value, i did get a mousepad from them without any problems. and their shipping is way better than neweggs (whats up with newegg? recently it seemed like their shipping costs have increased). but still F**K optodisc.
