I hate my slow computer but i'm low on cash. I wanted to change my computer hardware pieces by pieces starting by the processor, RAM, VideoCard, and so on. I've been told the Intel Core 2 Duo to be the best processor on the market for games since it has a fast data pace. Honestly my computer is a dinosaur I have an optiplex GX260 motherboard. I don't want to change pieces that don't need to be changed. Thanks for the help

I think you should wait and save enough money for a Dell or HP.

we have these at work, painfully slow Pentium 4 with hyper threading. I have never seen one that has Pentium 4 dual-core. I doubt C2D will work here. Is it socket 478?

Welcome to AnandTech Forums.

There is nothing on the Optiplex GX260 that can be upgraded with the idea that it would save money later.

Depending on your current configuration you can probably make it a little faster with an investment of about $100, but it would be lost $100 when you get to build a new computer. What ever CPU memory and video would use to upgrade would not work on new generation computer.
