Options for getting a DS Lite online?

Is there any way I can get the DS online for a few games without messing up my current wireless settings? I have a spare router that I could add to my current wireless router and run WEP on. Will that make my current network any less secure?

I really don't want to completely switch over to WEP just for the DS. Just wondering what would be the best/safest way to get my DS connected.

I guess you could remove the antenna or something on the router and limit the range to like 5 feet, that would keep it secure.

I'm sure hacking your DS + router network is in the interest of million of script kiddies who drive around the neighborhood scanning wifi networks. c'mon now, just set your WEP to 128 bit and you're done. I have WEP for my DS and Wii.

One of my in-laws was trying to crack my wireless since I was at work and he wanted internet access. He was unsuccessful. He's somewhat tech-savvy. I run WEP because I have a Wii and a couple DS Lites.

Thanks

So the best option is to just lower my security, or add a second router thats only used for the DS?

He sucks at it then. We just cracked WEP in our intro to security class at college. All you need is a few programs, traffic on the wireless, and 10-20 minutes of your time.

Maybe that's it, there was no traffic at the time.

Really... who cares anyway? What are the chances some one will happen to drive by your home and decide to crack your wireless? Especially when countless unsecured connections can be found at any apartment complex.

Well, I figure...I've done it to get internet access before, so someone else nearby has too. It's like saying, who's going to drive by your home and decide to see if you left the front door unlocked? You still lock your door even if you're in a safe neighborhood.

I'd argue that WEP is basically like locking your door. Like locking your door it's not going to deter someone determined to get in, but at least it's not an open invitiation like an unsecured connection. I likely wouldn't run WEP if I was in an apartment or something, but in a plain residential neighborhood... it's hardly worth worrying about IMO.

I mean, defend WEP all you want, but it's not going to stop anyone, even your neighbor in a standard residential neighborhood, from accessing your network and anything you have shared.

I'm glad you agree on apartments though, because that's just asking for it.
