Optimum way of setting up my drives

Hi All,

I have two HD's, a DVD-ROM and a CDRW. With only two IDE Channels, can someone tell me an optimum way to setup these drives?

Thanks in advance.

Unless you buy a PCI card for more openings there is only one way to set them up. One HD will be a master the other a slave and the same for the two cd-roms.

Jlr pointed you in the right direction. I would never put two hard drives on the same channel though, it would slow things down quite a bit depending upon how much use the second drive gets. Only one device on a channel can be accessed at one time, and if you have two semi-busy hard drives, you have a big slowdown.

I thought that?s what serial ATA was for...well anyway now I'm going to have to research it.
