The demo does not let me change settings. Do people using the pro version get better scores because they can lower settings like resolution etc...? Can I achieve the same effect by dropping my default and desktop resolution or using my Catalyst Control Center to turn on or off settings?

How do I get my best score or a score I can compare to others with using only the demo?

No. All the settings are the same. In order to make all the scores compatible, then everyone just uses the default settings (which the demo uses). There are other ways to increase your score such as turning on all the optimizations that you can, no AA/AF, etc...

How do you turn those things off? I have ATI x1950XTXs in crossfire - should I use the catalyst control center?

ATI drivers still don't seem to support my 1950s optimally in crossfire. I had to use the drivers that came with the cards on CD - even 6.10 beta wouldn't really seem to run them properly.

Do you think I'll run a fair bit better when 6.10 officially comes out?

What kind of scores are you getting? I get about 6600 with a single x1950xtx

I got 10,390 using default Demo settings.

I don't overclock anything (not even my GPUs) since I am a computer noob and all I know is what I learned in the last 3 weeks researching to put together my new machine. I also have no extra fans or thermal gluey stuff or whatever - just au' naturel.

But I am having driver issues - the only catalyst I can get to work my 1950s in crossfire are the ones that came on CD in the box with my HIS GPU cards (I imagine HIS hacked 6.8s or 6.9s to add 1950 semi-support).

Even the 6.10 beta is buggy for me in terms of recognizing my 1950s AND recognizing that they are in crossfire. The HIS ones will have to do until 6.10 is officially released

btw how can I find out which catalyst edition HIS used?

Specs:

-E6700
-P5W DH Deluxe
-2 x HIS ATI x1950XTX Crossfire GPU
-Creative X-Fi
-2GB Hynix DDR2-800 Ram
-150 GB W/D S-ATA HDD "Raptor"
-2005 manu. HP-P1230 22" Diamontron CRT
-Logitech G5 Mouse
-Logitch G15 Keyboard
-Enermax 620 Watt "Liberty" PSU
-Antec P-180 Case
-Creative Inspire 5.1 Channel Speakers

Best ATI driver was the WarCat 6.6+Chuck. You can't use it though because of your new cards.

Thats a nice score. You could probably get higher if you OCed the cards and CPU a little. You better OC that conroe (take a look at CPU section of forums and post there. Very helpful, but i'm sure there's 1000 different conroe OCing posts already). I guess if your scared about OCing then you can ask and get help.

I'm not sure what programs support the X1950's yet (hell, drivers hardly support them). I would noramlly say something like RivaTuner or ATI Tool but I'm not sure if they work (anyone?? I'm no ATI expert).

You got one hell of a system there. Enjoy it :) (Overclocked or not it's still one hell of a system)

I want to play oblivion.

Will the "chuck" patch only work with 6.9 Catalyst?

My current drivers are HIS modified 6.8s. You think I should try the modified 6.9s that support 1950s or do they just support single 1950s - if 6.10 beta had trouble crossfiring my 1950s then will the modified 6.9s?
