Optimizing sk6 performance

I thought i'd be hardcore and get a delta 8k rpm 60mm fan and as soon as i heard it
i thought i'd cry. I definately need something to keep my cpu temps down in the 40C range
and as it stands now they range from 52-60+ . Here's what i thought up:

1) get a pot for the Delta and knock it down till its not so painful
2) get a 60mm->80mm adapter and a suitably quite fan
3) stick with what i've got now 6800rpm thin silent something-or-another 28ish CMF fan

lemme know if you can suggest something else, i'd like not to drop too much more
cash into this endevor.

LOL. hehe i think i bought the sk6 off you Blain dont quite remember though.

Question though, would using an adapter be prefereable to just tacking a
fan on there ?

Ok, afixed a 80mm fan atop the sk6, temp reads the same? Hmmm.
Perhaps the board isnt' reading the temp properly. I've got an AT7 MAX
and i'm using the bundled windoctor program. Anyone have any ideas.
Btw took the original fan and mounted it to my 9700.
