Optimizing for 1024 MB of RAM ?

Hello,

today I just got a new 512 MB PC133 stick of RAM , so now I want to otpimize my computer for it a little bit ...

I have:
win2k Advanced server
2 hdds 7200rpm
Duron 600@1060
and total of 1024 MB Pc133 ram

so , how would I go about optimizing win2k ? ... right now I have "Optimize performance for Applications" and not "Background services" ... and my total paging file starts at 768 MB - 1500 MB ... so , what should I change ? I guess I should change paging file so win2k will use memory instead of hdd 😉 ... but how ? ... I remember way back before changing paging file, and win2k still didn't use much memory , but started to tell me it's low on paging file 🙁 what's wrong with win2k 🙁

anton, what are you running that needs win2k adv server? isn't advanced server supposed to go up to 8-way cpu usage or something? i know win2k server just goes up to 4 (i think, correct me if i'm wrong on that one)...

man, i sometimes wish i never had a choice like that one! don't you need to set up clients on advanced server or is it like win2k pro? if it can work standalone then i may just borrow a copy from work and install at home.

I think it's like Pro but with more background services, I just disabled all services that I don't need and that's all ; )

and also recently I set-up a Pro one, and first difference that I noticed that you don't have to log in 😉 ... but actually I already made my win2k adv. server auto login on another computer 😉
