Optimizing a laptop?

I have a IPC Laptop (Model 6133 - for the interested). It has an Cel 400 FCPGA in it. Unfortunately the fan on the heatsink is very nousy (everytime it spins up on, heads turn around to see where the plane is coming from :) ).
Does anyone know a retailer or manufacturer where I can get a more silent fan (or a better Heatsink/Fan combo -> perhaps o´c) for this laptop?

In addition to that I would like to upgrade this thing with a DVD-Drive.Is there an expert around for this kind of modification (changing the internal 24x CDRom to DVD-drive)?

The official support only says "not possible", buy a new one.

Thanks so far

indiana,

How about lubricating the fan? It may just need some lube to get rid of the noise. A power supply on an older desktop of mine used to shake the desk when it powered up and after it was lubed it was back to normal :)

Hi bigbigsavings,

Thanks for the advice, I lubricated the fan as you said, but there was no improvement. I think the only way to get this thing more silent is to change the heatsink/fan combo.
But this raises the question: Where can I get a heatsink/fan combo for a laptop???? Or even a new DVD-drive????

Thanks
