Optimized drivers for GF4 Ti4200?

I've been hearing lately that the latest version of Nvidia drivers (52.xx series) are optimized for the newer GX line of cards. I am currently running the 43.45 drivers but some have said that the 30.82 drivers are best for the GF3/GF4 series of cards.

System:
Epox Nforce2 MB with 2000+ XP
1024mb RAM
Ti4200 128mb
WinXP Pro

Specifically, my framerates are not that great in Morrowind. Yeah, I know the MW engine really sucks, but all I hear on the MW forums is "Use the 30.82 driver!" However, every time I try to reinstall the 30.82 driver I get a setup error and I've properly uninstalled the previous Nvidia driver.

All my other games seem to run fine and I really can't tell much of a difference.

52.16 gives me a weird jolting effect in UT (orig) and it's unplayable with that jolting effect.

Back to 44.03, these render a better image than 43.45 I find. Forget 45.23 - bug galore!

Any idea as to why the 30.82 driver gives me a setup error? It gets to 100%, but then says setup did not complete.

Currently running the 43.45 driver with good framerates in MW, so I'm in no big hurry to switch.

I may give the 44.03 series a try, though...

I've gotten the highest performance numbers and best IQ ever with the 53.03 leaked Forcewares.

However, the 41.09 and 43.45 detonators were also both wonderful releases IMO.

what's 41.09 like? how's the performance and IQ compared to later drivers?

p.s. to those using 43.45, 44.03 renders a better image on distant objects. i noticed this during games of Gun Metal where the terrain textures on far away hills diminished in quality when i used 43.45. and yes it does run well on Ti series 😀
