Optimal internet connection/speed

hello, just want some inputs of what is an optimal internet speed for a shop im maintaning.... it has currently 20 gaming units, and soon to upgrade to 30. internet use would be mainly for online games, internet access, chat and webcam... dowloading of large files & video-streaming is not allowed in the shop for the reason that it will cause lag and sometime gets my internet DC for a second enough for the online gamer to get disconnected and need to reconnect to their accounts again, i dont know if that is normal though...

currently i have an ADSL connection with 768/256 kbps connection and i wonder if this is enough. i tried calling my provider to upgrade my connection to maybe 1mbps or 1.5mbps but he suggested a dual-dsl would be better and honestly i dont know about dual-dsl or how it would be set-up but im thinking that he might mean to split my connection with my computer and if thats the case i might be unable to see the 2nd split of my computers in network neighboorhood or something...

anyways im just here just to get inputs for an optimal speed or maybe suggestions on how to setup better the shop with regards to internet speed.

hoping for some inputs.. Thanks all!!!!

Getting two DSL connections would not split up your computers in network neighborhood. You can have all computers on the same network and have both DSL connections on that same network.

You could get a dual wan router, but I think a dual wan router sends traffic to the same site over the same route (since routes are cached) which would be the case if all the machines are connecting to the same game server, so you would get zero performance increase from adding a second dsl line.

The other option for using both lines would be to have two routes, one connected to each line, and have each plugged in to the same LAN with all your computers still on that same lan, but set the gateway for half the compturs to one router and the other computers to the other router.

It's kinda sloppy that way. I would think you would be better off with a faster single line. But I don't know the shops budget; it's more figuring a balance between if faster internet is worth the cost, or could that monthly fee be put to better use elsewhere.
