i'm looking for a better fan for my tuniq tower 120. i know the stock fan is supposedly good @ 2000rpm, but are there better fans @ 2000rpms that push more air and are quieter?

Same one I use.

does that S-flex 1600rpm fan even push more air than the stock fan @ 2000rpm

All I know is its quiet and does 63.7 CFM at 28 db. I feel its better then the stock for the facts it has a longer life span and also no need to worry about using a controller like the stock fan. You can turn the stock down and to be honest I doubt you will get such a difference in temps that its really gonna matter. I just went with what seemed like viable options for a fan I prob could of just used the stock and slowed it down to get the noise level I desire.

The fins on the TT are close so a faster (higher CFM) fan at the same given static pressure is going to make more noise. (more of a hissing sound than a whirring noise but audible nonetheless.)

so for this scenario (for the tuniq tower 120) what kind of fan would be best for performance? at what point does the marginal rate of improvement level off?

theoretically a fan with even a lower rated cfm output would perform better on the TT were it to have a notably higher static pressure. That being said, teh Zalman ZM-F3 or Sanyo Denki Sanace 1011 would be about the best you could get.

When I was using that sink I tried many different fans. So many times the top came off that the original screws holding it down no longer worked to keep it in place!

I always kept going back to the original - only because I was using it on a temperature controller and it seemed to keep the temperature in check the best. Best balance of noise and performance.

I can honestly say thats about the 4th or 5th person I've heard say that too.

The stock fan on the Tuniq connected to a fan controller works pretty well for silence and cooling, so I haven't had the urge to replace the fan. Then again, I'm not really pushing my year old e6300 very hard.
