So I just installed my new motherboard and for some reason the optical out on the motherboard going into my home amplifier (logitech z5500) isn't working. Is there a way to check for this? Is there some setting I need to enable. I'm pretty sure the cable is just fine as it had worked for my previous motherboard.

FWIW, I did install all the current drivers for the motherboard. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

On all but my last mb windows 764 put in the correct drivers.
Had the same problem last week and had to load the audio drivers from the disk that came with mb.
There should be 2 choices speakers or spdif in windows if not load the audio drivers from the disk that came with mb.
On the (logitech z5500) press optical on input.
If your using a pci-e ATI Video card there is 2 more choices.

Is there an option at all for Optical SPDIF enable in the BIOS? If so, make sure that is enabled.

thanks for the responses guys.

john3850 - thanks, it worked! I actually got the MB from a friend of mine, so it didn't come with a CD, however I just went to the intel website and installed the audio driver and it worked! Again, thanks for the help

nenforcer - i appreciate the response as well.
