Optical mouse - USB provides better performance than PS/2?

On a Logitech optical mouse I have, there's a "2x Optical Performance" Logo on the box. On the corner of the logo, it says "with USB".

It seems like they're saying I have to use the USB connection to get the increased optical precision.
Is this true, or am I just mistaken?

USB mice can use a higher refresh rate than PS/2. However, you can adjust the PS/2 refresh rate, and the difference in performance is negligible anyway.

I have the exact same mouse, and I can say the USB makes a difference. I don't know if it's just me, but the PS/2 connection seems to make it a little jumpy, whereas the USB connection is very smooth and responsive.

My accuracy in FPS games seems to increase using USB over PS/2 even with PS/2 set to 200Hz. Dunno what it is, but it may be different for you, so you should experiment.

Using a Mouseman Dual Optical BTW.
