Optical mouse pads

my logitech optical runs fine right on the dark wood laminated desk.

oh yeah,it runs on mouse pads too

but most mouse pads are too dang small

so i'll stick to using my desk as a mouse pad lol

I use an intellimouse explorer 3.0 on a Ratpadz mousepad. It was the cheapest to buy (compared to Everglide and Func) and I have no complaints. There is a new version of the Ratpadz coming out soon too.

Any link for the new ratpadz?

The only link I know is www.ratpadz.com but it only shows the old ratpadz. I emailed Kyle (the guy who owns Ratpadz) a few weeks ago and he said that the new pads wouldn't be out for Christmas but his release schedule might have changed since then. He also said on his site that he has stopped production on the old pads so I guess the new ones are getting geared up. Either way it shouldn't be too long.

Upside-down black Ratzpad. Why upside-down? Because the colors used by the logo on the primary side mess with pointer accuracy.

i'm using a black ratpadz i got from 2cooltek and it works great. never had any tracking issues at all. nothing fancy on it tho, just the grey logo at the top right corner.

i use a cheapo mousepad with a wolf on it...because, my wife asked for it and it was worth 6 bucks to shut her up 😉

otherwise i used to use a spiral bound notebook, plenty of room for mousing and i could jot down notes, web sites and the like without freaking out looking for paper

eventually i put a pen into the spiral binding, saving me any running at all, w00t

I used my tabletop (psudo woodgrain) for a long time (couple a years) and i switched to an everglide giganta recently as i was puting signifficant wear on my table after so much use.

I like the giganta a lot... i ordered ten of them two weeks ago to give to people i liked em so much. They still havent shipped my freakin order yet, as they are out of stock on the logo pads i wanted (they never said they actually HAD any when i ordered them i guess...).

I just wish they were a little more... giganta. My free range mouse got used to all the real estate on my desk.

I use a 3M Precise Mousing Surface pad (fancy name). Bought it from Costco because I needed a new mouse pad. 3M claims that it is optimized for optical mice. I haven't really noticed a difference in the performance of my Logitech Dual optical but its still a nice mouse pad🙂.

The best surfaces are completely white. I wish someone would make a plain white mousepad. I have an IBM optical and i just use a piece of white paper and it works fine. Messes up on wood surfaces and patterned mousepads.

i have a "large mousing surface", well that is what it is sold at. bought it at compusa in minneapolis, msn. it's about 15" x 22" and 1/8" thick or so, black... works perfect for my ms intellimouse 3.0! 🙂

what i heard is that it needs to be non-reflective to work properly with an optical mouse

for me, a dark blue thick mouse pad with the gel wrist thing works great for me, totally precise. it's generic, but works great. you can't rely on normal expensive mouse pads to work well with optical mice, afaik.
