Optical mouse not lighting up.

Sometimes when I boot up my computer, the mouse light on the bottom of my MX300 optical mouse never turns on, it's plugged in and everything and I've checked all the device settings to make sure it's working properly. The thing is, the problem is inconsistent, sometimes when I boot up it will work, other times it doesn't. When I click the right button it always shows the pull down menu, so connectivity is not the problem, it's just the light. Is there something wrong with the mice, or does it just not turn on cuz it's been overrused since sometimes i do keep the comp on half the day. Anybody else have the same problem?
 
this is actually my first optical mouse, so I wouldn't be able to test it...it worked fine initially.
 
It could be something as simple as a loose wire inside the mouse.

Side note, leaving your computer on and having the mouse on as well shouldn't kill your mice like that.
