Optical mouse light inconsitent.

Sometimes when I boot up my computer, the mouse light on the bottom of my MX300 optical mouse never turns on, it's plugged in and everything and I've checked all the device settings to make sure it's working properly. The thing is, the problem is inconsistent, sometimes when I boot up it will work, other times it doesn't. When I click the right button it always shows the pull down menu, so connectivity is not the problem, it's just the light. Is there something wrong with the mice, or does it just not turn on cuz it's been overrused since sometimes i do keep the comp on half the day. Anybody else have the same problem?

How often does it do this? All my Logitech opticals (when using the USB port only, not PS/2) do this about once in maybe 30-40 reboots. No idea why. If it's USB, just try unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in while the PC is on; don't do this with PS/2 though. PS/2 is not hot-swappable.

my REALLY old HP two button optical does this too. Except that it often cuts out after about every 10 minutes to an hour.

Haven't noticed it on any of my logitech mioce yet.

If you can try a USB --> PS2 converter. I find that helps quite a bit.

yea actually it came with a usb-ps/2 convertor, but it did the same thing...What I do now is keep my old mouse in the ps/2 so that when the mx300 fails i still have something to use. It does it basically every other reboot...I'll e-mail logitech.

someone on a logitech forum had the same exact problem...and I bought a refurbished mouse...hmmm...too bad that person posted his/her problem back in september of 2003, otherwise I could ask someone.
