Optical Mouse Dies Randomly

I have a Logitech Optical Wheel Mouse and every once in awhile Win 2k will fail to detect it. By this I mean that the LED will not come on. Also when I print sometimes the mouse will just die, weird. The mouse is connected to the USB port because when I use the PS/2 adapter and shut down my computer the LED stays on constantly. I think that it might be something in the mouse but I am not sure. I tried Logitech by the response I received was absolutely no help at all. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

haven't experienced any problems like this yet myself. Try suing a different usb port?

the reason the led stays on constantly is b/c of the pci 2.2 conplicance spec which requires a standby voltage for pci, ps/2, serial, comm and some other stuff i think, i had that problem with my old board in my microsoft opictal mouse but new one doesn't stay on so if it doesn't crash in ps/2 but the led stays on then don't worry about it
